The harvest experience includes taking part in grape picking and traditional grape treading, followed by lunch accompanied by wine. It is an opportunity to better understand the importance of vineyards in the landscape, culture and identity of this region. The grape harvest experience is announced until 19 September.
Thanks to its proximity, it is also easy to include in a more relaxed day: spend a few hours among the vineyards, then return to enjoy the pool, garden or simply some time to rest. Participation is subject to booking and availability, so advance reservation is recommended.
Um Mar de Sons brings local traditions to Santa Cruz
5 and 12 September | Santa Cruz
Around 20 minutes by car from Quinta da Carlota: Summer evenings continue in Santa Cruz with Um Mar de Sons. On 5 and 12 September, the programme brings together folk groups from the municipality, with a parade beginning at Parque Municipal de Santa Cruz and performances at Largo Jaime Batista da Costa. Both dates are rescheduled performances originally planned for July.
It is a good opportunity to discover a more traditional side of Torres Vedras and can easily be part of a day by the sea: spend the afternoon at the beach, have dinner in Santa Cruz and finish with traditional music and dance.
Alma do Vinho: four days dedicated to wine in Alenquer
17–20 September | Parque Urbano da Romeira, Alenquer
Around 35 minutes by car from Quinta da Carlota: For wine lovers, this is one of September’s standout events. Alma do Vinho returns to Alenquer from 17 to 20 September, bringing together more than 35 producers and around 300 regional wines, alongside food, tastings, sensory experiences, wine talks and different wine tourism activities.
Music is also part of the programme: Sara Correia performs on the 17th, Vizinhos on the 18th, Miguel Araújo on the 19th and Carolina de Deus closes the festival on the 20th.
Alenquer is close enough for an easy day trip, allowing you to combine wine, food and live music without a particularly long journey.
I Feira Medieval da Silveira
18–20 September | Pinhal dos Casalinhos de Alfaiata, Silveira
Around 15–20 minutes by car from Quinta da Carlota: For three days, Silveira steps back into the Middle Ages. The first edition of Feira Medieval da Silveira, part of the parish centenary celebrations, will feature historical re-enactments, music, fire performances, street entertainment and activities for the whole family. Admission is free. It is a particularly appealing option for families looking to alternate beach or pool days with something different in the region.
Five nights of music in Santa Cruz
21–25 September | Santa Cruz
Around 20 minutes by car from Quinta da Carlota. Santa Cruz extends its outdoor programme with 5 Noites, 5 Concertos, held in different locations across the parish. The line-up includes WE Quartet on 21 September, Ruben Monteiro on the 22nd, Monks na Meia Praia on the 23rd, Banda de Forró on the 24th and Modo Vilão on the 25th. You can arrive early, take a walk by the sea or have dinner in Santa Cruz before the concert, turning the evening into a relaxed programme by the coast.
A special end to September in Silveira
26–28 September | Silveira
Around 15–20 minutes by car from Quinta da Carlota: The celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of Silveira Parish continue during the final weekend of September. Among the announced activities is a hot-air balloon, available from 26 to 28 September. On the 27th, the programme includes performances by Banda Filarmónica da Ribaldeira, Rancho Folclórico da Silveira and Orquestra Danada. It is an opportunity to experience a celebration closely connected to local history, identity and community.
